DotSpeak is made by Dot Speak LLC. This describes what we collect, why, and who else sees it.
DotSpeak has no sign-up and no password to remember. The app creates an identity for your device the first time you open it. We store a display name and an optional avatar, both of which you choose, plus a timezone and the time you were last active.
We keep these so the app works — so a Dot can answer when someone scans it, and so a conversation is still there when you come back.
DotSpeak uses other companies to do things we don't do ourselves. Content is sent to them only when a feature needs it:
We do not sell your information, and we do not share it for advertising.
We only use companies whose terms require them to protect your information and to use it solely to deliver the feature you asked for. If a provider stopped meeting that bar, we would stop using them.
When you ask the assistant something location-shaped ("what's nearby"), we estimate your city from your network address so the answer uses real place names. This is a rough, city-level estimate. We do not use GPS, and we do not store a location history.
Subscriptions and Spark packs are purchased through Apple. We never see your card. Apple tells us that a purchase happened and what it was for.
If you report something, we store the report, who filed it, and a copy of the reported content so it can be reviewed. If you block someone, we store that so we can hide you from each other.
Content stays until you delete it or ask us to delete your account. Email support@dotspeak.world and we will remove your account and its content. Because there is no login, tell us from the device you use so we can identify it.
DotSpeak is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
If this changes materially we will update the date above and note it in the app.
